Trying to understand the difference between SSIS variables and SQL execute task parameter settings data types RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I understand that there are differences between SQL Server and SSIS data types on the data flow level, due to the fact that SSIS is a tool that integrates other DBs than SQL server, hence the difference data types.

But when coming to the control flow level. I cannot understand why there are differences between variables and parameters data types ?

For example - a SQL Int data type, is a Int32 variable type, and a Long paramter variable type.

Why the differences between the variable and the parameter ?

  • This is due to the way SSIS was built in the beginning.
