Add WindowsBase.dll as a reference and Blend project fail to build RRS feed

  • Question

  • I added C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v4.0.30319\WPF\WindowsBase.dll to an empty project, then the project build start to fail.

    I have Blend 5.0.30709.0.

    The errors:

C:\Users\user\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\App1\App1\App.xaml : Xaml Internal Error error WMC9999: Unsupported type argument in custom attribute signature.
C:\Users\user\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\App1\App1\Common\StandardStyles.xaml : Xaml Internal Error error WMC9999: Unsupported type argument in custom attribute signature.
C:\Users\user\Documents\Visual Studio 2012\Projects\App1\App1\MainPage.xaml : Xaml Internal Error error WMC9999: Unsupported type argument in custom attribute signature.
Done building project "App1.csproj" -- FAILED.
    Build failed.

I need to add the dll in order to add another dll I need. But I am stuck here.

    What went wrong?

  • What project type is your project?

If it isn't WPF, you can't add that reference, and if it is WPF, you shouldn't need to add that reference.
