Microsoft Project Information Extraction RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

I am currently trying to find a way to surface information at high level and display within our Project Server Project Details Pages.

Basically, we have a default schedule that is split into three high-level tasks (Bid, Delivery, Service) I need a way to extract the cost of the delivery section and display it in project server. My initial thoughts would be to use a custom field that looks at the WBS and says IF WBS = 1 (IE the BID Section) then the column matches it.

    Would this be correct?

(Sorry for the poor annotations, I need the highlighted values to be visible in a PDP within Server)

    Many Thanks

  • Crete a custom enterprise project field and that can be used in the EPT page.

How to get the data into the field.

    1) Easiest is to have project manager update the field.

    2) create macro in project pro to update.  It going to be fairly complex

    3) Write task formula much more trickier, because if it going to be a very nested IIF statement and intensive calculation for updating one field on project.   Also, not absolutely sure you can update Project custom fields from Task fields.
