Identity column invisible for OLE data connection to Sybase ASE RRS feed

  • Question

  • I created a new connection to Sybase ASE with Sybase OLEDB provider. When I expand a table by clicking + sign on the tree, the identity column of the table will not be displayed on the screen. The other columns' names displayed properly but the identity column is always absent. I created more tables with an identity column, and the result is the same for all of them. I can see the column name if I don't define the column as an "identity column" while creating the table.

I tested this on versions Visual Studio 2005 and Visual Studio 2008 Beta.

    Thanks in advance.

  • I do not think the issue related to the Visual Studio itself, but rather than to Sybase OLEDB provider. VS.NET display all the information in that tree based on information provided by OLEDB provider. If provider does not provide specific information, VS.NET has no idea that tables have identity columns.
