VSTO to Office 365 Web Apps RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys, does anybody know if it is possible to customize Office Web Apps as can be done with VSTO (or at least similar)? Target apps: Word, Powerpoint, Excel

    Things i have to customize:

1- Ribbon Tab:  A tab with 3 buttons and some label to display custom properties values.

    2- Read/Write Custom properties in a document

3- At least a subset of events: Before Save or Before Close?

    I will appreciate any information.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Holden,

Thank you for posing in the MSDN Forum.

Based on my knowledge, there's no such approach.

    Hope it helps.

  • Thanks Quist Zhang for your answer.

Wow... thats means office on my tablet will not support even a dropdown list to select a category or line of service where it belongs?

Is it possible to extend webapps in any way?

So for hybrids strategies i will have vsto on desktop and "something" for webapps.... a small subset of "something"... at least something.

I will appreciate any clue about how to face this scenario.

    Thank you in advance.

  • Hi Holden,

Thank you for your last reply.

As mentioned by Danny in AddIn development for Web Apps, Office Web Apps are not so customizable.

For now, you can Build apps for Office which can work on Office Web Apps, however Apps for Office have many limitations. Generally speaking, you cannot manipulate Office Object Model thing in Apps for Office.

    Hope it helps.
