  • Hello,

Do you mean SQL Azure? Which version of SQL Server / SSMS are you using? If it's 2008R2 or 2012 then: Start SSMS and logon, right mouse click on the database you want to deploy => "Tasks" => "Deploy Database to SQL Azure ..."; see Deploy a Database By Using a DAC

Or do you mean a Windows VM with an installed SQL Server?

  • IF ... I can't use DAC  ... and my interpretation of the descriptions says NO!    then can I convert to some other form of SQL server and then use DAC? OR ... do I need to start over and define the DB in SQL Azure?

  • Hello ,

I would suggest to have a look at

    http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/66da40b8-7ff8-43ef-9ae0-c543f4bd4cf4/importing-a-database-from-ms-sql-server-to-sql-azure

It seems that your thread is not in the "good" forum ( http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/home?forum=ssdsgetstarted  ). A moderator may move your thread to this thread towards this forum , it will avoid :

    - to let a thread dying in this forum

    - to have for you to recreate this thread and to lose posts which could be useful for the solvation of your problem

For myself , I prefer to wait for your agreement for the move before doing the move.

    Have a nice day
