Access 16 ignors default printer settings on some accounts. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Running under Windows 10, I have an Access 16 program which uses a split database.  The frontend is installed on four separate computers which are networked together and to the back end data base. Two of these computers have multiple users,  all users have access to the frontend module but only one user on each computer at one time.

My problem is this: on some of the computers one or more users complain that the front end software ignores the default setting for the printer and instead sends the print job off to a networked printer, which incidentally is not nearby. I have searched the options for Access 16 and cannot find anything that would globally force an override  to the default printer setting.  If one uses the file command, to select the print option, on the defective accounts, the default print job goes to the online print engine, not the local printer.  However, the selected print command works correctly.

Searching the Internet, the only solution I have been able to find is: force a selected printer for each report or form.  Because of the multiple users.  This solution is not practical because in some instances, an installation may have a local printer, while other installations share a printer. Configuring each installation for each user is not practical.

I would appreciate any advice or information that would lead to a solution to this problem.
Thanking you in advance as this blog has been helpful in the past.

What do you mean by this? Could you share us a screen shot about this two ways?

To check whether it is specific to Access, if you print the web page, will this issue exist?
