flipview display

    Question

  • I have a simpe flipview display:

    (function () {
        "use strict";
        var ato = 0;

        // Create List of articles
        var listArticles = new WinJS.Binding.List([
        { url: "/imafull/Calfire 107.jpg", },
        { url: "/imafull/Calfire 106.jpg", },

       ]);
        WinJS.Namespace.define("MyData",
        {
            listArticles: listArticles
        });

    I activate t the usual way:

    <div id="tmplArticle"
            data-win-control="WinJS.Binding.Template">
            <div class="articleItem">
                <img src="*" data-win-bind="src:url" style="height: 100%; width: 100%; margin: 0px;"  />
            </div>
        </div>

        <div id="fvArticles"
            data-win-control="WinJS.UI.FlipView"
            data-win-options="{
                itemDataSource: MyData.listArticles.dataSource,
                itemTemplate: select('#tmplArticle')
            }"
        </div>

    Here is a simple question: How do I exit the flipview display ? (I only see tose left and right arrows, and that is it.

  • What do you exactly mean by exit the flip view ? Those left/right are for navigating between items in the flipview.

    Can you explain what you exactly want to achieve here ?

  • Maybe it is clear for others, but not me. I do not have an app bar, and how else can I finish a flip session.

    Yeh, those left right buttons work, but how to terminate the session and move on to other thinsgs.

  • Hi,

    The flipview control works like that only. If you want to go to other pages from the flip view you may have top customize it, but that would be difficult. For example when you reach the last page, the next button will not appear (this is because you have no more items).

    Flip view is data source bound control, which means that it will only work with data as it's boundary.

    If you want to go to separate page or do some other operation then you need to have a button somewhere (In the page or app bar).

    If you want to customize the flip view to do those additional stuff may be you will have to create your own control.

    That is what I want. It would not allow me to define a app bar. Maybe I should check that again.

    So define a button ? Any suggestion?

  • Hi,

    What I meant was that you cannot exit a flipview from the flip view navigation buttons (by default functionality). I never said that you can never get out of a flip view page. In a page you can always navigate from either buttons/ app bar.

    Why cannot you add a appbar ? You should be able to add the app bar in any page..

    Please share you HTML sample...

    To add a button, you may have to push the flip view (either from top, bottom, right or left) to accommodate the button on the same page. If your flip view is 100% (height and width) then you are better off using an app bar.

    You should be able to add an app bar in all cases.

  • I got the default.html working. It has a pin/unpin button, and I set the wide screen tile.

    The default.html calls the home.html that has the flipview.

    Question: Can I have two appbar's running: One for the first default app, and one for the home flipview?

    I need the flipview appbar, so I can tell caller we are done with flipviews.

    That is not working. It will not activate at all.
