  • Hi Sriram,

SQL Server Express LocalDB is an edition which can be installed using an MSI and which does not require the full-featured SQL Server setup to run.

Regarding the regular SQL Express install: Without any logs it is hard to tell. This might get you started to analyze where exactly the setup is failing: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143702.aspx

It would be great to hear back when you have more details!

    Thanks

    Lars

  • Hi Sriram,

Full SQL Server usually requires running the setup to configure it for the specific environment - and that takes some time.

    Things that I've tried

    • Use SQL Express LocalDB (https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh510202.aspx)
    • Use SQLite/MongoDB/PostgreSQL/MySQL

    Hope this helps,

  • I was trying to install sql express. I was trying with these two commands.

     wget -uri "http://download.microsoft.com/download/E/A/E/EAE6F7FC-767A-4038-A954-49B8B05D04EB/Express%2064BIT/SQLEXPR_x64_ENU.exe" -OutFile c:\sqlexpr_x64_enu.exe

     C:\sqlexpr_x64_enu.exe /QS /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS /Action=install /Features=SQL,Tools /InstanceName=SQLExpress /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS="Builtin\Administrators" /TCPENABLED=0 /SQLSVCSTARTUPTYPE=Automatic /SQLSVCACCOUNT="NT Authority\Network Service" /AddCurrentUserAsSQLAdmin=0

the first one got executed. the second one is not working. not sure why?.
