Azure file Sync cost clarification RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Experts,

I need to come up with a pricing of Azure file sync, while looking at the azure pricing calculator there is a box which states the NOTE: One sync server is free per storage sync service. Sync uses file operations to sync your data to the cloud and sync servers. You will be additionally billed for any operations that are generated in the sync process.

my question is are the sync servers the on-premise windows file share to be synced to Azure files

  • Sync server refers to the Windows Server which has the Azure File Sync agent installed. The server could be running on-premises or in a VM in the cloud.

The billing is at the server level not file share level. If the server is syncing one file share or twenty file shares, the sync server price per month is the same.

Also, the total cost of Azure File Sync (AFS) is determined by the number of sync servers plus the underlying costs of File storage (including storage and access costs) and outbound data transfer.
