TimeServer + ASDK RRS feed

  • Question

  • Folks,

I'm going to deploy an ASDK (1802) and wondered if I can use the FQDN of the TimeServer rather than an IP address?

.\InstallAzureStackPOC.ps1 -AdminPassword $adminpass.Password -InfraAzureDirectoryTenantAdminCredential $aadcred -InfraAzureDirectoryTenantName "<Azure AD directory in the form of domainname.onmicrosoft.com or an Azure AD verified custom domain name>" -TimeServer time.windows.com

    Many thanks,

    Lisa

  • Hello Lisa,

The Azure Stack ASDK deployment requires the time server be set with IP and will fail if you set it with the FQDN.

You can ping ‘time.windows.com’ and set the -TimeServer parameter with the IP returned.

NOTE: It may fail to ping but should return the IP

    Example:

    PS C:\windows\system32> ping time.windows.com

Pinging time.microsoft.akadns.net [13.65.245.138] with 32 bytes of data:

    Request timed out.

    Request timed out.

    Request timed out.

    Request timed out.

    Ping statistics for 13.65.245.138:

        Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

-TimeServer 13.65.245.138 (This worked for me)

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your time and interest in Azure Stack.

If you experience any issues with Azure Stack or the current ASDK release, please feel free to contact us.

     Thanks
