View in Windows Store does not work on Google Chrome? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have not tested with other browsers, but if it does not work with any browser other than Internet Explorer, how are the people using other browsers supposed to access our apps?

  • Confirmed here as well. Hope they can fix this somehow... I think even zune:\\ links worked back in the day. My assumption is that it needs to do something special at the OS level and they built it into IE special.

  • This has to be supported by the browser. Per Linking to your apps on the web a year ago "up-to-date versions of Internet Explorer, Safari, and Firefox support Windows 8 protocols."

  • Yeah I mean I guess it isn't anything MS could do about it. It is up to the browser developers to implement it.

  • Yes. Thanks.

I guess it will continue to be this way until Google does something about it. :(

  • There is PLENTY Microsoft can do about it.  I found this tidbit:  http://www.zdnet.com/cant-shop-for-windows-store-apps-using-chrome-but-is-google-being-evil-7000004918/  Essentially it is implemented by a registered prefix instead of a MIME type.  Microsoft can certainly detect and emit the correct code for Chrome.
