Different grouping behavior in ReportViewer 10 vs 9 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We're currently converting our ReportViewer 9 reports to ReportViewer 10. One of the problems we have right now is that ReportViewer 10 behaves differently with groups.

For example if we have 2 groupheaders with detail rows, in ReportViewer 9 if group 1 doesn't fill the page group 2 is displayed beneath group 1. In ReportViewer 10, if group 2 can be displayed on 1 page it is being pushed to the second page.

    Group Header 1

    Detail rows

    Group Header 2

    Detail Rows

    [Page 1]

    Detail Rows

    [Page 2]

    ReportViewer 10

    Group Header 1

    Detail Rows

    [Page 1]

    Group Header 2

    Detail Rows

    [Page 2]

How can I get the report (with ReportViewer 10) to display the group header on page 1?

  • Solved.

Turns out ReportViewer has extra KeepTogether properties at Detail level. These didn't show up in VS 2008 because it doesn't have design time support for ReportViewer 10. In VS 2010 however we can see the extra property KeepTogether at detail rows.
