How to change paths and drives and remove (non existant) A:drive (floppy disk) ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have no A:drive (floppy disk drive); but Windows continues to list it.  Also continuing warning that H:drive is full. How can I change default primary drive to C:drive. I have tried to change drive, path settings and destination drive for back-ups. I have installed a large external hard drive (MyBook) for backups, but the H:drive continues to appear as operative default.

  • I think you're asking in the wrong forum but here's one way to do it: run cmd.exe and type HELP SUBST at the prompt. Note that the first drive letter doesn't take any slashes--only a colon. By default, it creates an alias similar to MKLINK. There's also a deletion flag, i.e. SUBST /D A:

    Hope this helps,
