Why pre-generating XmlSerializer classes cannot be done on WCF service side? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

According to traces in our WCF service we experience random delays after the request hit the service and actual method invocation.  Now we think that this might be a problem with xml serializer generating its classes to deserialize our message.

We were thinking about pre-generating classes, but on the page http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa751883(v=vs.110).aspx it is said that "Pre-generated serialization code can only be used in client applications and not in services."

    Why is that?

    Br,

In my mind, it may because that when we want to improve the start-up performance for applications, we may use the .Net tool to pre-generate serialisation code and replace the serialisation attributes in the proxy with a reference to the generated dll. So it can only be used in the client side.
