    Greetings IIS Forums,

Can the IIS console (admin console) be run as a non admin.  My company is in the process of locking down the workstations and removing local admin access, but when this happens, we lose the ability to edit (in VS2010) some websites built on IIS.

Hello Sir Strafe! Thanks for your post!

Your developers can run and debug their Visual Studio 2010 applications using IIS Express so they shouldn't need access to IIS Manager.

Is there a reason why they wouldn't be able to use IIS Express instead of the full version of IIS?

    Hello Sirstrafe,

In IIS 7, you can delegate features in IIS Manager to non-administrators. With feature delegation, you can configure which features of a site or application to delegate to IIS Manager users and Windows users or groups in IIS Manager. This gives server administrators the ability to delegate control of specific features to site or application users without having to give them full control of the server. For more information about delegation, see Configuring Delegation for a Site or an Application in IIS 7.

    Hope this helps.
