Open HTML in WebView control that lives in My Documents

    Question

  • We have a problem to solve where we cannot embed HTML in our application bundle.  We have to allow the user to potentially change or add HTML, images, css, JS, etc and our app has to load it in its WebView.  What is the best approach?  I've seen that you can roll your own HTTP server in your app, and I know Windows 8.1 has NavigateToLocalStreamUri but is there something I can use that is in production right now?

  • Nothing direct in Windows 8. The custom http server is the most functional. The other option is to embed everything into one HTML string and load it with NavigateToString, but that's only really good for simple pages.
