Unable to open sharepoint 2010 site in SharePoint Designer 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Everyone,

We have a SharePoint Server 2010 VM and we are currently facing an issue. Let me explain the issue:

We received the VM with SharePoint installed and we did the configurations. We also have a requirement of hosting our SharePoint site on internet, so we raised a request for it in our organization. In the process of hosting it on internet, few patches and some softwares were installed by corporate security team to remove vulnerability assessment (VA) issues. After all the fixing, sites became un-accessible from SharePoint Designer, it was giving “Bad Request” error while opening the sites. We found on the internet that URLScan, which was one of the softwares installed while fixing of security issues, causes this issue and it suggested to remove URLScan and it will work. Then we consulted back with the security team, if we can remove URLScan from the server, so they said yes we can remove. So, we un-installed it, but now we went into another issue. We are still not able to access the sites from SharePoint Designer, but the error has changed, SPD actually hangs on opening the site. Now we see the below error:

On clicking “Switch To…” start menu of windows opens and nothing else. On clicking “Retry” also nothing happens. SPD can be only closed using Task manager after this error.

It would be great if someone can help me with this issue.

    Thanks in Advance
