Corrupt or Broken Framework RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello I have windows Vista installed on my laptop with 4gb ram. Installed is the .net framework 1 thru 4 I have the Personal website starter kit on a cd among many other folders and files. I copied and pasted the Personal website starter kit into the websites folder in my: documents/visual studio 2010/websites, folder. I have made sure I scaned for viruses and or malware and that the dat files were up to date. My connectionStrings that worked just fine in the past to a remote connection began to throw errors. Instead of a long detailed explanation I will get to the point I want to un install the frame work and build it over again. I have admin rights on my pc I uninstalled the .NET versions from the uninstall programs, in the control panel. But they remain in the folder directory. Itried to change permissions and the read only attributes but I continue to get eror messages, nothing llong and detailed they just say I need permission which I have admin permissions. I even used the .NET CLEANUP UTILITY to try my plan but did not work either. What can I do to get the .NET Framework 4.0 installed and working. Oh one other thing Visual Studio 2010 Professional is working weird like the layout changes on it own as if there was another user doing this.

  • Hi DKB,

Please first clarify your OS version. Then try using the SubInACL tool to repair file and registry permissions.

If it doesn't work, please use http://aka.ms/vscollect to gather the latest installation logs. After using it, you will find vslogs.cab from %temp% folder. Please upload the file to https://onedrive.live.com/ and share the link here.
