Conditional formatting - Icon sets question RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good morning,

I was wondering if someone can help me with a question.

I am trying to input the '3 grey arrows' conditional formatting icon set into cell E20.

But I'm having some trouble because the conditions are based in other cells.

So what I need is this: If the value in Cell C20 is greater than the value in D20, then I want to put an upwards pointing arrow in E20.

If the value is the same, I want E20 to have a horizontal arrow.

If the value is less, then put a downwards facing arrow.

    Can someone please help???

    Thanks,

    Pete

Answers

  • Icon sets only work with the value of the cell itself.

Enter the formula =C2-D2 in cell E2.

Set up conditional formatting as in the screenshot below. Don't forget to tick the check box "Show Icon Only".
