Small Basic on a network RRS feed

  • Question

  • I work in a school. The technicians have installed Small Basic in the computer suite. When I try to run Small Basic programs the application simply closes. The technicians tell me this is because Small Basic is creating an exe and our security says we can't do this. Any suggestions how to overcome this problem?

  • Alas! More draconian measures by "security technicians"!

Small Basic is a .Net compiler, not a interpreter type language. So, it generates an executable!

I see 2 ways around that:

    • Run SB installed in a removable device like a pen drive and such.
    • Ask those techies to install a machine emulator like VMPlayer or VirtualBox; and install another Windows there, along w/ SB.

  • Wouldn't the technicians need to grant access to SmallBasic for making .exe files?
