How to make my Media Source seekable? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When i try to set new playback position with the progress bar i dont get Start method call.

I had set MFMEDIASOURCE_CAN_SEEK flag in GetCharacteristics method but nothing had happen.

  • GetCharacteristics() may return MFMEDIASOURCE_CAN_SEEK if the Media Source supports seeking.  Some sources, such as live sources, do not.  You don't set this value yourself.

Have a look at IMFMediaSource::Start() which accepts a start position.

  • There is not a problem in the Start(), cuz i even don't get call for this method.

I think that Media Session even don't know that i'm seekable.

  • Does IMFMediaSession::GetSessionCapabilities return the MFSESSIONCAP_START flag?  If so, the session correctly recognizes that your source is seekable, so something else must be going wrong.  I would suspect that your source is not sending out all of the necessary events, so the media session is not transitioning to the correct state to be able to seek.  If you cannot figure out what is going wrong, can you post an MFTrace log?
