References needed when connecting to a service on a WIN CE device RRS feed

  • Question

  • What references are needed when connecting to a CE device from a laptop. I assume I need the cf.MyCEServiceName.Y2007.M09.Proxy.  Do I also need the CF.DssRuntime.Proxy and CF.CcrCore and CF.DssBase?

    thanks

  • Assume service A runs on the CE device and B is the service/application that want's to connect to the CE device from the PC.

When you compile the service A it should generate:

    cf.a.Y2007.M10.dll

    cf.a.Y2007.M10.proxy.dll

    cf.a.Y2007.M10.transform.dll

    a.Y2007.M10.proxy.dll

    a.Y2007.M10.transform.dll

Everything starting with cf.* needs to be deployed to the CE device.

B needs to reference a.Y2007.M10.proxy.dll (a.Y2007.M10.transform.dll should be in the same directory but is loaded dynamically). If B is a service, dssnewservice should have added the references to ccrcore and dssruntime, if it is a stand-alone application you need to add them. Don't add references to cf.* assemblies to a project for the full .net framework. Use the non-cf versions of the proxies.

    Hope this helps,
