Deployment slot in Azure portal

    General discussion

  • Hi,

Trying to create Azure instance using rest api's in Java, could anyone tell me where I can find the deployment slot when viewed in Azure portal? When creating through rest API, they are asking for deployment slot, but when creating through portal, I'm not able to see it anywhere. so, want to know from where I need to get the value of deployment slot.

    Thanks,.

  • Assuming you're trying to deploy a Virtual Machine through your Java code. The portal actually abstracts a lot of functionality when implementing REST API. For example, when you create a VM, it automatically creates a cloud service for you. Similarly, they automatically deploy a VM in "Production" deployment slot. To test it, just fetch the properties of your deployment by invoking Get Hosted Service Properties (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windowsazure/ee460806.aspx) with embed-details=true for a VM created by the portal and you will see that it is occupying in "Production" slot.
