Question about 'Number of previous logons to cache' policy RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been testing a domain policy 'Interactive Logon: Number of previous logons to cache (in case Domain Controller is not available) and giving it the default value of 10. On my WES 7 system, if I logout, disconnect the network cable from the device and try to logon again using a domain account this is successful - proving the policy is effective.

However, if I am logged in and I shutdown the WES 7 system and then start it up again to try to logon as the same user (network cable still disconnected) I cannot logon. Is this because my local password cache gets cleared out as part of the shutdown operation? In which case, can I say that the policy does not apply on WES systems across shutdown operations? I think that is what is happening but would just like it confirmed.
