  • Question

  • I am new to visual studio, and I need some help. I have installed Visual studio Express edition for desktop in my pc. I just need to know that do I need to go online everytime I need to work on Visual Studio?

  • I don't think so. You can use Visual Studio off line.

  • Of course you can use Visual Studio offline. Some features, usually unimportant to core development, won't function, such as the hyperlinks on the Start Page, but I think that is self-evident.

    What real windows Environment are you using, windows 7 or 8.1?

    If you mean that it doesn't have the VS2013 express version's shortcut like the following screen shot in my windows 8.1, maybe you could get it under the path C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 12.0\Common7\IDE, or you could send it to your desktop.

  • You posted to the Small Basic programming language - Moving to VS forum. 

    Have you tried not going online and using VS with a problem?

    Should be fine.

  • Install Microsoft Visual Studio 2013 update 3 RC from following link :

    after this is done start building Applications you want more over this package has SDK also so you can build Windows Phone Applications too. And if you want to learn some basics please visit my website :

  • okay I am able to launch VS offline only by opening the project I had created which by default is saved in the documents directory. I am still unable to find the launch button or shortcut, whatever you may say.
