Looking for a way to suppress TCP error message RRS feed

  • Question

  • The OS version is Windows CE 6.0 R3 and recently I have seen a Message Box stating "TCP Connection failed!".

I would like to block the pop out and I have tried to search the WINCE600 including \PRIVATE and all sub-directories but nothing was returned from the search. FYI, if I try to search those strings in \PUBLIC the search tool will give me a hit but not this "TCP Connection failed!"

Does anyone know where is this string coming from? Thanks a bunch.

  • If you have WINCE600 premium source code you can catch the string "TCP Connection failed" inside private folder. If you want to block this message box, find the API which causes the message box to appear.

Otherwise to completely block all the Message box "\WINCE600\PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\DRIVERS\MESSAGEDIALOGBOXCUSTOMIZE" here you can completely override the MessageBox API.

  • You can also clone and modify PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\DRIVERS\NETUI.  I think that the message box that you are concerned about is presented by NetMsgBox().

You may want to take a look at http://geekswithblogs.net/BruceEitman/archive/2010/03/23/platform-builder-cloning--the-linker-is-your-friend.aspx where I discuss cloning only one file (netui.c) and then using the linker to link with the existing netui.
