    first i need to start with legacy asmx web service. i have to know how many different type of authentication support by legacy asmx web service and then i also need a good article which discuss various type of authentication support by wcf.

    For legacy asmx web service, the following authentication schemes are summarized here:

    • Windows authentication with impersonation
    • Windows authentication without impersonation
    • Windows authentication using a fixed identity

    There are four types for WCF Transfer Security Modes : Message security, Transport security, Mixed security, Both.

    # Authentication Options with Transport Security : None, Basic, NTLM, Windows, Certificate.

    # Authentication Options with Message Security: None, Windows, Certificate, Username, Issue token.

    # Authorization Options in WCF : Role-based, Identity-based, Resource-based.

    # Role-based Authorization Options in WCF: Windows groups, ASP.NET roles, Custom roles.
