WebView Flashing Start Screen Backround Color RRS feed

  • Question

  • My app has a white background, but the area of a WebView control flashes the background color of the Windows 8 Start screen while an HTML string is loaded into the WebView, and when the user control that is hosting the WebView gets collapsed.  Does anyone know how to fix this, so that my white app doesn't flash dark green or blue while I load/hide the WebView?

  • This is a known bug in the Release Preview that we are working on addressing in the next Windows 8 public release.

    Sorry for the problems.

  • Hi BansheeDave,

    What is your code and tesing environment, in the local machine or test in a simulator. Did your Windows 8 run in VM environment? Could you please show some code snippet that we can reproduce it? thanks.

    Sincerely,

  • I'm having the same problem as BansheeDave too. It happens all the time when NavigateToString is used even in C# WebView SDK sample. Both in local machine and in simulator.

  • I have also had this problem.

    And Mark said, This is a known bug.

    If you want to deal with it temporarily, you can try

            //WebView webView;
            public void setWebViewVisible(bool bVisible)
            {
                if (bVisible)
                {
                    webView.MinWidth =
                    webView.MaxWidth = 683;
                    webView.MinHeight =
                    webView.MaxHeight = 415;
                }
                else
                {
                    webView.MinWidth =
                    webView.MaxWidth =
                    webView.MinHeight =
                    webView.MaxHeight = 0;
                }
            }

    Good luck.

  • Sorry to reply to an ancient forum post, but I am still having these problems using VS2012 on Windows 8 - was the issue ever resolved?
