Moving from Test Agent 2013 to Test Agent 2015 RRS feed

  • Question

  • In our current configuration we are using VS Test Controller + VS Test Agent 2013 Update 5 to execute test remotely. I noticed that in 2015 Test Controller has been removed. I am trying to find a good guidance of how to move from Test Controller + Test Agent 2013 to Test Agent 2015. A step-by-step guide or a good explanation of differences between 2013 and 2015 would be really helpful.

  • Hi Alex,

    Thank you for posting here.

The Test controller+Agent 2013 can't be moved to Test Agent 2015. They are separate from each other.

If you want to use Test Agent 2015 to run remote tests,  Test Agent 2015 handles orchestration by communicating with VSO or TFS 2015. In TFS 2015 vnext build definition, you could add a step called "Visual Studio Test Agent Deployment".
First, you need to add your server to a machine group first.
Secondly, choose the machine group you added. About the parameter "Test Agent Location", if your machine has installed a test agent 2015, you enter the location of your test agent 2015. If the machine haven't installed test agent 2015 before. It will help you install it.
