Import MPP files to MS Project RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a user that almost has a hundred MPP files saved in a local machine.

These MPP files were created in an MS Project Server development environment.

This user now wants these MPP files or the data in the dev MS Project Server moved to production.

I'm not familiar with Project Server's capabilities from a programmer's perspective.

Is it possible to do this programmatically in VBA using Project Pro or better yet using Visual Studio?

So, any suggestions or recommendations would be helpful.

    Thanks

  • If all the resource names match and task custom fields match then you can open then save to Project server using Project VBA. Don't bother with Visual Studio because the same code will take 2-3 times longer to develop and won't run any faster. In fact the quickest way is to get your code working in VBA before porting to VS.

If resource names or custom fields don't match, then import one by one so you can use the import wizard to map resource and custom fields correctly.
