Adding an Image to the map and it scales RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I want to add an image to the map at a specific GPS (Rectangle) and have the image resize and move as the user zooms and drags the map around.

I have looked at TileSource and TileLayer and this article, although I am using 7.0 not 6.3 of the map SDK.

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc161076.aspx

The intended purpose is to highlight an area on the map, post code area to be precise. I have looked into polygons but the complexity and size of them would make the downloaded script enormous.

Any suggestions on how I can achieve this easily, the article uses a web service and the wrong SDK so I am not sure this would be easy to implement, more really painful.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • This isn't currently supported in the Bing Maps V7 AJAX control. I have attempted to create this myself but found that it made for a poor user experience as it wasn't very smooth. I added this to the feature request list several months ago but do not expect it to be supported anytime soon.

  • Thanks for the response.

I will look at polygons instead for now.
