  • To install MDS 2012 you do not need to run a separate msi, as you had to do with 2008 R2. MDS 2012 installs from the SQL Server 2012 installer.

    Kind regards,

  • While run setup.exe I can't find the MDS.msi in features page and  also can't get it from \1033_ENU_LP\x64\Setup\ folder.

FYI , i downloaded the en_sql_server_2012_enterprise_core_edition_x86_x64_dvd_813190.iso from MSDN page

  • Don't you have a setup.exe on the root of your installation folder - i.e., a level below \1033_ENU_LP\? Why aren't you running that?

  • MDS is not part of the core install -  see list of supported featured on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/hh231669.aspx.

Is it possible for you to download and install the full SQL Server 2012, not just the core?

    Kind regards,

  • M,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I checked on en_sql_server_2012_enterprise_edition_x86_x64_dvd_813294.iso there is no MDS Check box show in features page. As mentioned earlier in my post , i also can't find the MDS from SQL 2012 Ent Core and BI edition. Kindly advise , how to get the MDS from ?

  • Lynn,

Assuming that you are doing a feature installation, you should have a Master Data Services under Shared Features in the Enterprise or BI edition installation disks/images (and not in the core installation disks/images) - please see screenshot below.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Lynn

Are you sure your Operating system is in 64 bits ? (if in 32, mds won't appear in the list)
