Alternatives to Live for simple leaderboards RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • We would like to add fairly simple global high scores/leader boards to some of our casual games.

The Xbox Live creators program is too stupid for normal people. Apparently its mandatory for a user to sucessfully login to Xbox Live to allow any of your app to run. Not one single bit of functionality is allowed until successful login. (MS testers are refusing to certify apps). So even if customers choose to Cancel/Skip login your app has to explictly block the user doing anything until they sucessfully login - e.g. at the end of their 12 hr flight.

So does anyone have any recommendations as to alternatives for high scores on UWP apps (desktops + phones, not really interested in xbox devices). Obviously we can roll our own e.g. via azure or equiv but would prefer not to have to re-invent the wheel.

  • Take a look at gmscoreboard.com. I found it pretty easy to implement in other games.

  • For UWP topics, that aren't Xbox Live related please post them in "Developing Universal Windows apps" forum under the "Windows and Windows phone apps" section.  I'll move this thread.  Thanks

  • How is this not Xbox Live related?

  • You are asking for a solution that doesn't involve Xbox Live so its outside the scope of Xbox Live forum.
