Multi Instances RRS feed

  • Hello

I am experiencing a problem installing another instance of SQL Server 2005.  There is already one instance called 'TEST' and I am trying to install the default instance.  The setup works fine until the end when installation trys to start the service.  All the service credentials are correct but it keeps on saying insuffient permissions.  TEST is running fine.  An interesting thing occured when we stopped TEST we could start the default instance.  I thought this must have been cause there was a restriction on multiple instances but we are running Standard Version which is supposed to enable up to 16 instances.  Does anyone have any clues?

    Thank you

  • Just giving an update.  The problem was that the instances were sharing the same port (not sure why), anyway once the new instance was assigned to the new port the service started.
