Minifilter driver Instancesetup Callback is not called while volume mount point to Drive Letter? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have written a minifilter driver with all major function and instance callback's.

When I go to disk management and then right click and select 'change drive letters and Paths' and then I remove the drive letter(like D: , I remove this). As I do this, InstanceSetupCallback is called and I do my stuff.

After removing drive letter, I again go to change drive letters and Path and I add a path there. Like I mount a volume on an empty folder(like C:\test). At this time InstanceSetupCallback is called with Filesystem type as 'RAW'. Why ? Although its an ntfs file system.

When I remove volume mount point(C:\test) then instancesetupcallback is not called. why? Is it designed to be like that ?

And If it designed to be like that then which major function is called when I remove this mount point ?so that I can do my stuff.
