Microsoft Security Essentials no longer works with WES7

Question
-
Attempted to download and install the latest 32-bit version of Microsoft Security Essentials on WES7 CTP1. Get an error about "this version of Windows is not supported" or to that effect. This was a very useful add-on and I don't see any reason it no longer works with WES7.
This is just sufficient protection for many embedded systems and need no go through the additional burden of a third party solution.
Can a Template be made for MS Essentials be made available?

JoeEmbedded and everyone,
This is expected.
There are known issues that our team Embedded and the Security Essential team are actively working together. We have received asks from other customers as well in the past a couple of months. To ensure the right functionality and experience of the two products working together, before the issues are resolved, WES7 will not be supported on MSE. We'll announce when a supported version of MSE is available. Also likely we'll offer a template of MSE when this happens.
Thanks.

It might the installer checks the OS version and sees WES7 instead of Windows 7.

What is if you extract the installer and try to run epp.msi, mp_ambits.msi or setup.exe out from the architecture folder?

Can anyone confirm if this is the reason that we are unable to load WSE on POS Ready 2009 as well???Monday, March 7, 2011 7:25 PM

Weijuan,
Could you provide some information about the nature and consequences of incompatibility between WES and Security Essentials?
Because we are still able to install previous versions of Security Essentials and update it with standalone updater.

The current release of Security Essentials has a check for Embedded and blocks installation. Hence it does not consider the Embedded platforms as supported platforms at this point.

Any update on this for Security Essentials 2.0 or Forefront Endpoint Security 2010?

FEP 2010 is now supported on WES7, also for better managment of updates please see: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh535744.aspxFriday, December 9, 2011 11:47 PM

And what does that have to do with the topic of this thread: MSE on WES7?Monday, December 12, 2011 7:58 AM

There's also an newer version of MSE 2.0. FEP 2010 is just MSE 2.0 with enterprise components added in.
Simply download MSE at Microsoft MSE page.

So does MSE support WES7? I don't seem to have the definitive word on this and we're keen to try this as a low-cost virus solution.Wednesday, January 9, 2013 10:25 PM
