SP2 and embedded click once installations RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I first tried to include SQL Server 2005 Express, prior to SP2, within a click once deployment to be installed directly from a CD, there were a few problems.

We discovered that the package.xml file (in the VS bootstrapper foler) must contain the line

    <String Name="SqlExprExe">http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=37280&clcid=0x409</String>

and that the downloaded SQLEXPR32.EXE file must have come from that location - no other download link would work.

I now discover that Vista will not accept this download as it expects SP2. The link above points to a download that is smaller than SP2 so I'm guessing it's a previous version.

So the problem is, do I get a new package.xml file (and maybe product.xml and eula.txt) and if so, where from?

If not, what needs to be changed in the existing package.xml (and/or product.xml) file and from which location must I download the sqlexpr32.exe file.

    Regards,

    Rich
