Launch VSTO Excel Add In from Excel template and transfer data RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have an Excel 2007 Addin developed in VSTO(Visual Studion 2008, VSTO Second addition). I have an other customized excel template also developed in VSTO. On cell active event of this excel template, I have to launch the addin and pass a dataset to it. After user performs calculations in the addin, on click of the button in the addin, I should transfer back the dataset from the addin and show the data on the excel template. How do I achieve this?(I am using Win 7 OS)

  • Haritha,

What do You mean with cell active event? Does it refers to when users have entered data in a specific range of cells on a specific sheet or?

  • Hi Dennis

It's on Cell change event; user modifies value in the cell

  • Haritha,

I would use the following event of the sheet:

    Private Sub Sheet1_Change(Target As Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Range) Handles Me.Change

     End Sub

Edit note: I forgot to say that You need to check if the add-in is installed or not.

  • Yes, I can use a change event. But, How do I launch the addin from the event and pass the dataset to it. And, after user performs calculations in the addin, on click of the button in the addin, How do I transfer back the dataset from the addin to excel template?
