Purchased Expression Web 3- developing shopping cart with zen cart query RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Because zen cart is server side software I cannot see the effect of changes made on my laptop. Without publishing an unfinished site for all to see, how can I tweek things to see the effect of the changes I've made?

I do have a spare laptop available too...

Also, if I chose to use a payment gateway provider like (http://www.securetrading.com/) and have my payment pages hosted on a payment gateway's site, or have my payment gateway paymennt frame on my site, how will this affect my implementation of zen cart on my site?

If you want to know about my PCI DSS setup- take a look at a brief explanation: http://www.securetrading.com/pci-dss-solutions.html

    Thanks!

  • For your payment question, post on the Zen Cart forums.

What I tend to do when working with an application like Zen Cart is to save a page as rendered by the browers. Then I work on that page to get my css and images how I want them to be. Once I'm satisified with that display I duplicate the theme used when I started and modify it with the changes I made to the static page. Make sure that you update all file paths correctly. Then upload the new theme (there is quite a bit documentation on themes and how to edit/create them on the Zen Cart website) and apply it to the shopping cart.

Thank you so much Cheryl. I certainly will query on zen cart forums.

As a I require a dynamic site but lack php skills (css and html knowledge is good) and Expression Engine CMS has not worked well for me, once I have zen cart is there any real need for a CMS? If so, is there a free and easy to use solution for me? Thanks
