Can Azure Premium Storage be used to store files for SaaS

    Question

  • Hi,

While reading documentation I couldn't figure out if Premium Storage can be used for SaaS that need to store lots of files? I understand it does not have Queue or Table, but what about Blob, can they be used using REST API like Standard Storage or these are designed only for storing VHDs.

    Thanks

  • Yes, you can use REST APIs for page blob to store data.

Premium Storage currently supports only Azure Virtual Machine disks backed by page blobs. A premium storage account stores only page blobs, and only REST APIs for page blobs and their containers are supported. Any API called on a Premium Storage account must be of version 2014-02-14 or later.

See more information about this in the following MSDN article: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn889922.aspx

Thank you for your reply. I just tried uploading sample file using REST API and got following error:

    Block blobs are not supported.
    RequestId: xxxx
    Time: xxxx
