  • we have Thales MobileMapper CE handheld devices that currently run on Windows CE .NET 4.2 - however, the company has upgrade to ArcDesktop 10, when we tried installing ArcMap 10 on the device, it said is would not run on CE - is it possible to upgrade the handhelds to Windows Mobile 5.0 or greater

    For Windows CE, all operating systems are the responsibility of the
    OEM (original equipment manufacturer) and a few large phone carriers.
    For you, that means if Thales provides no upgrade, no legal upgrades
    are available.

    I'm pretty sure the cost (to an OEM) of licensing is much higher for
    Windows Mobile than for CE. So I would be surprised if any legal
    version of Windows Mobile is available for your device.
