Custom Hardware USB Keyboard [D2] - Switch to a predefined layout (DLL) using a key combination RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello All,

In the new custom keyboard I am designing I have a special key which I have named as SS (Script Switching) Key.

I have used one of the 'reserved for OEMs' scan code in the keyboard buffer, generated from the keyboard firmware. If required, I can also map it to 1 of the 8 bits of the 1 Reserved Byte in the Report Buffer,.

Anyway, I want to use this SS Key to switch to any desired layout (DLLs) using a key combination.

e.g. 'SS Key + F' switches the layout/script to French; 'SS key + G' switches the layout/script to German and so on ...

I want to discuss if this is possible or not? If yes, How? If not, why?

I found a link that suggest something like this

    https://www.usb.org/sites/default/files/hutrr56b_application_keyboard_layout_selector_0.pdf

    Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Vikas
