dialing a phone number and playing a sound message RRS feed

  • Question

  • hi there guys... i need to dial a phone number and play a sound message to the person who answers my call...

all this using the fax modem and C# code (or C++ code)

I've been searching for information, but i didn't find anything... if you have some idea, some library or something to start from i'll appreciate it a lot...

    I'm using C# 2005 Express Edition

  • Does your fax modem actually support voice?  Your modem must support voice to do this.  And even so, you won't reliably be able to detect the progress of your call (busy, no answer, operator intercept, connect, etc.) with a modem.

The type of application you are creating is generally called a telephony application.  You're better off getting a dedicated telephony board (Dialogic (Intel), Brooktrout, Natural Microsystems) and then using a library to control them.  Some libraries are NCT DialogicVoice (for Dialogic/Intel boards), or Exceletel.

If you must use a Modem, then, you're going to have to learn about the TAPI interfaces.
