Viewing test result details with lots of traces freezes display, corrupts other app screens RRS feed

  • Question

  • When viewing the test result of a unit test that generates a lot of debug traces, the screen displays 2 scroll bars side by side, inside the window. Clicking on the innermost scroll bar will cause the application to behave erratically (very slow to respond, does not repaint some windows, prevent other application from repainting)

    This can be reproduced on 2 distinct PCs.

    This typically force us to restart the Visual Studio application.
    We noted that VS takes a long time to exit when this problem occurs (about 1 minute)

    Runnning this test will reproduce the problem

    using

    System;

    using

    System.Text;

    using

    System.Collections.Generic;

    using

    System.Linq;

    using

    Microsoft.VisualStudio.TestTools.UnitTesting;

    namespace

    TestBadDisplay

    {

    [TestClass]

    public class

    UnitTest1

    {

    [TestMethod]

    public void

    TestMethod1()

    {

    for (int

    i = 0; i < 1200; i++)

    {

    System.Diagnostics.Trace.TraceInformation(

    "Iteration "

    + i.ToString());

    }

    }

    }

    }
