.NET 3.5 and .NET 3.5 SP1 on Win7 RRS feed

  • Question

  • http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/kb00318785.aspx, says for .NET 3.5 mscorlib.dll version should be 3.5.21022.8.

but on my Win 7 machine there is no mscorlib.dll in v 3.5 folder.
    one in v 2.0.50727 folder is  2.0.50727.3521

When i try to install .NET 3.5 runtime OR .NET 3.5 SP1, it says

"You must use add remove windows feature from control panel" to install or configure .NET 3.5 runtime or SP1

in control panel, I only see
"Microsoft .net framework 3.5.1" under it has WCF httpActivation and WCF non-http activation.

    How to install SP1?

  • Hi Singhhome,

Win7 includes .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 as OS component. So it has been upgraded to .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.

Referring to mscorlib.dll, the document that you posted above is applied to:

        Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
        Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
        Microsoft .NET Framework 1.0
    See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/kb00318785.aspx#appliesto

All versions of the .NET Framework from 2.0 onwards (i.e. 3.0 and 3.5) use exactly the same core framework files. The CLR is still v2.0 which is the core in .NET Framework 2.0. The Core parts are referred to speak as the 'Red Bits' and the rest as the 'Green Bits'.

    Thanks
