Develop mouse 'First-person shooter' control in WinRT RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to discuss about choices of implementation of 'First-person shooter' mouse control.

If you played FPS games on PC, the control is using 'relative' mouse displacement, either with DirectInput (which not supported on WinRT), or by resetting the position of the mouse at each frame and deduct the 'relative' mouse displacement and apply the player steering.

Since WinRT doesn't support an equivalent to 'SetCursorPos', it seems that it is impossible to write 'FPS' games on Windows 8. There is of course alternative with Xbox controller, or using a virtual pad on touch screens, but some player might use the old fashion mouse control.

So, finally, is it possible to develop a serious 'first-person' shooter on Windows Store with mouse control ? Using DOS interrupt 0x33, 0x4 (don't know if it is even possible) ?
