Close all instance of Visual Studio.

Open visual studio command prompt and type, devenv /installvstemplates.Press Enter.

(to open command prompt  : Start\Programs\Microsoft Visual Studio\Visual Studio Tools\Visual Studio 2008 Command Prompt)

when the process is complete ,open visual studio.

You will get all missing templates under Visual Studio installed templates.

    Right Click your project

    Click on Add New Item

Select "Dataset" from "Visual Studio Installed Templates"

Thanks a lot. It worked for me.

But, ¿Is there any reason to hide this templates in Visual Studio?

¿Why you have to install it manually after installation of Visual Studio?

    Regards.

Some time it happens due to some third party tools overriding your VS settings.

But no problem when ever this type of issue came just run this:   devenv /installvstemplates

    Your problem will get solved.

    Cheers..
