Connecting Windows Touch Screen Driver to an FTDI driver- template suggestions RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi I am very new to driver development and have absolutely no experience. I am hoping by some luck this particular task will be simple enough.

I am wondering which template would be best (filter driver possibly?) to connect an FTDI RS232 to USB serial driver to a standard Windows 10 "Pointer Device" touchscreen driver.

And would it even be possible for me to call W10 Touchscreen driver commands from a filter driver?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Could we have some more information?  Are you trying to emulate a touchscreen with the FTDI, or something else?

  • Basically I have a TS and they don't support a driver because they use Windows 10 Touchscreen driver for their USB interface.

However, the customer does not want to be able to talk to the touchscreen, just receive data from it. So we're routing its serial through an FTDI serial chip which is converting to USB and attached to the PC. This allows us to not attach the RX lines for the TS.

So it shows up on the unit as "FTDI USB Serial Converter" on device manager.. Because it is indirectly talking to the TS through the FTDI chip.

So the idea is to put the Touchscreen driver on top of the FTDI driver.. Not sure how to do this.
