assign a specific tracked person a specific tracking id? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can I assign a specific user a specific or custom tracking id? For instance, the first user thats recognized always gets tracking id: 1, user 2 gets: 2, and so on. Is it possible to override the default behavior of giving them random tracking ids and do this? If so I was wanting a better way to identify multiple users then just keep looping through active players trying to see which one has a specific and random tracking id at a specifc time.

  • You can override how the user tracking is activated,

The id values being used would have to be set according to the API, but the logic you use to identify them can be abstracted away in your application (key-value pairs / dictionary). If people go out of the tracking area there is no way to re-identify them unless you implement a learning system to detect who the person is.

  • Thats what I was afraid of. Thanks carmine. I was thinking about having people line up in a ordered fashion and line up the same way again after bathroom breaks and such. That would make sense because the first two people would always be on the kinects far left or far right view. For example, have person 1 come in first, person 2 next, and so on. You can use that as feedback for the kinect team if you wish. Iam trying to get it to work this way in my kinect multipoint project (really an experimental project for a public school district I work at. I would use my offical work email on the forums but Iam only a part time person their and my intern or coop position is not guaranteed to last much longer for me).
